My Review of Blackheath

Blackheath is a novel about powerful magic but more so just a story of two former friends who rediscover their friendship along the way. I feel like this story is more about relationships and how relationships they affect the lives they touch or influence. The relationship between Joel and Maggie is defiantly the focal point, but readers also get a sense of the how their relationships especially with parents have influenced their lives up until the point of the beginning of the story. 

I like Joel even though his dislike for his brother’s new title or either of his parents, he still tries to do what is right and help raise his younger siblings. This caretaker role seems to fit him even if he does not realize it. Maggie on the other hand is an outgoing girl, who tries to fill the void of family with her closest friends, but still feels empty. While there is a faint hint of romance, I like the rekindling of friendship between the two characters is a valuable part of the story. I really hope to see more of their story in the future. 

I really feel like Blackheath just skimmed the surface of the magic in the world, and I want to see more magic. I also want to see what Joel is capable of; because I have a feeling, he is more powerful than even he knows. Maggie also seems to have an important part in Joel’s story, and maybe readers will see just how much if there is another installment in this series. 

I love the magic and mystery surrounding Blackheath, and there is a lot more to explore if the author choose to continue the story. I will have my fingers crossed hoping that happens.

My Thoughts: I say this every time a new book comes out by Alyssa, but I am so excited to get into this one. I have loved every book she has written and I am so excited to read more about Owen and Daisy's story!

My Thoughts: I loved the first book, Forged in Stone! I loved James and Ainsley story and see some of my favorite characters from Alyssa's Afterglow Trilogy. The best part is that you do not have to read the Afterglow Trilogy to enjoy the Forged Chronicles but for fans they get to see some of their favorites all grown up. The end of Forged in Stone has me dying to read Forged in Ice and the cover is just phenomenal.
