Excerpt From Life After Falling
"Can I look?" I gestured to the movie collection he had piled next to the massive TV.
"Sure." He walked over to the kitchen counter and put down his keys, wallet, and phone. I liked that he put down his phone. It meant he was all there with me. I’d worked hard to break my own addiction to technology.
"Quite the collection." My eyes ran over the titles.
"I've picked up a few over the years."
"What's your favorite?" I kneeled down to see them better.
"You can't ask me that."
"Why not?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Because I don't have one favorite. Each category is different."
"But no overarching favorite?"
"Not for movies, but I do for music. Movies are like food while music is like women."
"Uh, do I want to know what that means?"
"Movies each have different purposes for me. Some make me laugh, some make me think. Some are entertainment. Like food. How can you compare a burger with a slice of cake? They serve different purposes.”
"Got it, but why is music like women?"
"Music has one purpose. To move someone. I can pick one favorite. The same goes for women. Who needs variety if you can find everything in just one?"
Words had never turned me on so much. "That's an interesting way to view things."
"It works."
I stood up. "But what if you never find one thing that has everything you need? Do you keep searching?”

Excerpt From Dawn
“What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream?” As inconsequential as her answer was, it mattered to me. I wanted to know her tastes and preferences. I wanted to know everything about her.
“My favorite flavor of ice cream?” She leaned up on her elbow. “Are you seriously asking me that right now?”
“I need to know more about you.”
“And that includes learning my ice cream preferences?”
“You know all of that stuff about me, don’t you?” I already knew the answer.
“Rocky Road.” She flushed.
“See.”
“Does that freak you out?”
I ran my lips across hers. “Not in the slightest. It means you cared enough to know. I should have too. I should have noticed you more.”
“You had plenty of other girls to notice.”
“I don’t notice them now.” There was no one else I wanted. I’d never understand how I hadn’t noticed how perfect we were for each other.
“Maybe you will again.”
“Nope. You’re stuck with me.” I was only half joking. I wouldn’t force my company on her, but if it was up to me, I’d never leave her side again.
“Because I already know you’re a wolf?”
“No.” I felt a growl growing inside me. “Because you’re meant to be with me.”
“Oh no. No. No.” She moved away. “None of that. Next you are going to start talking about pre-destined dreams and freaky stuff like that.”
I stiffened. Those dreams were the root of most of our trouble. “This has nothing to do with dreams. It’s about the way I feel. Becoming Dire has made things even clearer for me.”
“But you’re still you, so if it’s just your Dire side…”
I rolled her over so she was under me. “My feelings for you come from both of my sides. They were always there, but this experience has made them stronger. Being with you has made them stronger. Becoming a Dire has only accentuated what I already felt as a human. Things are clearer now, crisper.”
She grazed her teeth over her lip in a nervous gesture, and I couldn’t hold back. I needed to taste her lips myself. I leaned my head down and let my lips connect with hers. The kiss wasn’t gentle nor any of the things I’d promised my kisses with her would be now. It was primal and needy. I was greedy, wanting and needing to soak up every ounce of her.

EXCERPT FROM LURE
We stood awkwardly for another moment before I had to break the silence. “It’s been a while.”
“Two and a half years.”
“I thought about you the past few Halloweens.”
“I thought about you more than that. It’s actually pretty humiliating now that I’m standing in the same room with you. I don’t know what I was thinking.” She looked away.
“I lied.”
“About?”
I walked toward her. I had to wipe that regret off her face. “I thought about you a lot more than just Halloween.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.” I stopped right in front of her. “You were very memorable.”
“So were you.” She licked her lips. Again with the lips.
“I probably should ask you a million questions right now, but would it be okay if we put those off and did something else?”
“I guess that depends on what else you want to do?” Her eyes widened slightly.
“I want to kiss you.”
“I’m okay with that.” Her eyes seemed to sparkle.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
I didn’t wait for her to change her mind. I brushed my lips against hers gently. I was going to keep it short, but I had to know if I was glorifying the last kiss.
She moved her lips against mine, and any thoughts of keeping it short disappeared. I wrapped my arms around her as I deepened the kiss, greedily pushing for access beyond those irresistible lips of hers. She opened up, welcoming me in with the same intoxicating taste as she had the last time.
She moaned, encouraging me to continue the kiss. I didn’t need the encouragement. I lifted her up and carried her over to the couch. I sat down, settling her on my lap. I needed her close, closer than standing would allow.
Her fingers tangled in my hair as she let me explore her mouth. My hands ached to explore more, but I didn’t want to rush it. I’d waited over two years to taste her lips again, and I was going to enjoy every second of it.

My Review of Lure
Alyssa Rose Ivy just made Lure my favorite series yet, and the ending left me dying for more of Owen and Daisy’s story. I have been very patiently waiting for Alyssa Rose Ivy to write Owen’s story, and I love how each of the characters of the Crescent Chronicles is getting their own love story. It is so much fun watching how each of Alyssa Rose Ivy’s paranormal series interconnect in so many ways, and you always get new viewpoints of your favorite characters.

I have to say that Daisy is far too trusting for me, because I could not help but bite my nails as she would willing go with people she had just met. Even if I do like them in the end, I was still dealing with trust issues for Daisy from Seduction’s Kiss. In previous series, The Crescent Chronicles and The Empire Chronicles, Owen is not as prevalent, and I loved seeing things from his point of view. Owen is a true romantic at heart, which I think is quite different from the way Levi and Jared are when you first meet them. I could not help but hope that Daisy and Owen reunited and got their love story, but with every great story, there is a twist that no one sees coming.

I like the introduction to a new paranormal species in Lure, and I am curious to see how they feature in future Chronicles novels. I am also excited for the possible return of characters I have not seen in a while, but I am not going to say anything more because I do not want to spoil it for others. Alyssa Rose Ivy has defiantly found a magic formula for creating epic love stories that I cannot help but devour the second I receive them.

I hope that Daisy and Owen’s love story beats all the odds, and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next installment of The Allure Chronicles. If you are curious about this series, I defiantly recommend picking up the prequel novella Seduction’s Kiss and diving in for an exciting read. As always Alyssa Rose Ivy remains my favorite author to date, and I will always read anything she produces.

EXCERPT FROM BREAKING THE RULES

From Noah's POV
“Did you fall into some paint, Echo?” Isaiah asks, changing the subject.

Echo’s shoulder slumps as she pivots toward the mirror. She groans as she touches her

cheek and forehead that are more red and pink than skin. “Dang it. Why am I such a mess?”

“I think it’s sexy as hell,” I say.

“I think I’m going to barf,” Beth mocks my tone.

Death radiates from the look I send her way. Enough that it should melt her. “Ever sleep

Beth focuses on the screen while raising her middle finger in my direction.

“Screw it.” Echo turns away from the mirror. “I need a shower.”

I smile, Echo blushes, then I laugh. Damn me for inviting Isaiah and Beth to share our

“Anyhow.” An excited glint strikes Echo’s eyes. “Are you ready? I hope you like it. It’s

sort of…for you. But it’s not done, okay? I mean, something like this would actually take a while

to perfect, so I guess I’m saying—”

“It’s all good.”

“Okay.” Her fingers drum nervously over the top of the canvas before she repeats,

“I’m assuming that’s not the constellation Aires?”

“No. I’ll have to start on that tomorrow.” With a deep inhale, Echo pulls out a chair from

the table and rests the painting on the arms and leans it against the back so it will stay upright.

Air rushes out of my body, and I sink onto our bed. It’s the same damned shock as when

she drew my parents this past spring. There’s awe and joy and this ache that hits deep in my gut.

I bend forward and rest my joint hands on my knees and stare at the sight in front of me.

Fuck me, my eyes burn. I shut them, attempting to get my shit together. It’s a painting.

Only a painting. I reopen them, and it’s the same disorientation as a right hook to the head. It’s

more than a painting, and that’s the reason my throat swells.

Last night meant as much to me as it did to her and she painted it, capturing it in a way

unique to Echo. She’s right, it’s not done. It’s a skeleton compared to her other work, but I see

enough to know what she desires, what she plans to design. Up close all those colors would look

like chaos, but when viewed as a whole it creates this beautiful picture. In the end, that’s the best

way to describe me and Echo, our relationship. Our love.

The bed dips as Echo eases onto it, settles behind me and props her chin on my shoulder.

Her signature scent that reminds me of walking into a bakery becomes an invisible blanket

surrounding me. “What do you think?”

“It’s us,” I whisper, and knots form in my stomach. Echo always finds a way to blow my

mind. She tenses behind me and I continue, “It’s where we spent last night.”

“It is.” Echo relaxes, and her fingers curl around my biceps. “Do you like it?”

Struggling for composure, I place my hand over hers and pause. “It’s…”

I’m not Echo. I don’t have words for what happens inside me. If I did, I’d fail at

describing this. I shift to rest my forehead against hers. “I don’t deserve you.”

“That’s my statement,” she says so only I can hear. “I wish we were alone again.”

I press my lips to hers, slide my hand through her hair and watch as the curls bounce back

into place. “Me, too.”

The Hazards of Mistletoe: Excerpt, Review and Giveaway

Welcome to the Release Day Lauch on The Hazards of Mistletoe Blog Tour!  Make sure to check out everything going on during this tour by clicking the banner above.

About the Book
Title: The Hazards of Mistletoe
Author: Alyssa Rose Ivy
Series: The Hazards #4
Publication Date: November 20, 2014
Genres: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance,
One snowy Christmas Eve, one mistletoe kiss, one friendship changed forever.
Don’t underestimate the power of mistletoe. It looks innocent enough, but a single branch has the potential to change your life. One mistletoe kiss led to the most embarrassing night of my life, but thankfully by the next Christmas I ended up exactly where I was supposed to be.

Excerpt From The Hazards of Mistletoe
“Ice skating and hot cocoa? What are you buttering me up for?” I sat down on the bench and unlaced my skates. The snow was falling a little bit heavier, but the flakes were still light and more pleasant than a nuisance.

“I’m just enjoying an evening with a beautiful woman. I do have a romantic side you know.”

“Romantic?” What was Glen playing at? I’d had a crush on him for years, but things had stayed completely platonic. We were good friends who saw each other once a year, and teased each other through text messages and late night phone calls. That was it.

He didn’t hear me. He was already in line to return our skates. I waited for him to return with my boots, and not for the first time I was glad I’d worn wool socks. It was cold during the day, but the nights were absolutely freezing.

“Here you go, my lady.” He bent down and proceeded to put my foot into my boot.

I pulled away from him. “Knock it off. What’s gotten into you tonight?” As charming as Glen was being something seemed off with him. I wondered if maybe I wasn’t the only one who was upset.

He proceeded to move on to my next boot. “It’s Christmas Eve. Aren’t you Miss Holiday Spirit?”

“Usually.”

“Exactly.” He put on his shoes and tugged on my hand to pull me to standing. “Let’s get those hot chocolates.”

The line at the cafĂ© on the other side of the rink was nearly out the door, but I was enjoying Glen’s company so much I didn’t mind.

He insisted on buying my hot cocoa for me, and considering he’d already paid for my skate rental, I was starting to feel uncomfortable. Glen had all the money he could ever need, but I wasn’t used to guys buying me anything. My dating experience wasn’t extensive, and it involved boys who were all about going dutch. “I really don’t mind paying.”

“Yeah, but I want to pay. Stop arguing and enjoy yourself.” He lightly bumped his shoulder into mine.

“Well, thanks.”

We walked around the village sipping our hot chocolate and not saying much. After a while we took a seat on a bench. It was underneath a tree, and the pine needles blocked some of the falling snow. I closed my eyes and listened to the chatter of people walking by mixed with the low hum of holiday music.

“You guys need to kiss.”

I opened my eyes and saw a girl staring at us. “You’re sitting under mistletoe. That’s the rules. You’re under mistletoe, you kiss.”

I looked up. Sure enough there was mistletoe hanging over us from the tree. It wasn’t real, it was just the decorative stuff they used, but it had the same unmistakable appearance.

Glen put an arm around me. “I think she’s right, Savy.”

I turned to glare at him. “Don’t even start.”

“Why not? Scared to kiss me?” he teased.

Yes. I was scared. Terrified. This was Glen. Kissing him wasn’t something I was prepared to do casually while sitting on a bench in the snow with a bunch of onlookers. Of course I couldn’t tell him that though. “Why would I be scared?”

“I don’t know. Just checking.” He got a twinkle in his eye. That twinkle should have given me all the warning I needed, but it didn’t. I was wholly unprepared when his lips made contact with mine. They were warm and soft, and they moved perfectly against mine. I kissed him back, desperately wanting to know what his mouth tasted like, and if his tongue felt half as good as his lips.

My Review of The Hazards of Mistletoe
The Hazards of Mistletoe is the perfect read for contemporary romance fans that are looking for something to get them in the holiday spirit. I have to say I loved Savannah and Glen story, just as much if not more than the other Hazards stories. I think I liked this one more, simply because it is set around Christmas and it really put me in the mood for the upcoming holiday season. The best part is that as a novella it can easily fit into anyone reading schedule.

Alyssa Rose Ivy is a favorite of mine, everything she writes is gold, and The Hazards of Mistletoe is no exception. Savannah and Glen only see each other when their families get together for Christmas. While they stay in touch and are close friends, there are feeling developing. Obviously thing do not go as planned, or it would not be called The Hazards of Mistletoe. As a love interest, I have to say that I really love Glen, because I knew he would go to any lengths to protect Savannah.

I love so much about this novella, and I am surprise it is a shorter story, because everything packed into it really makes it feel like a full-length story. I always worry that novellas are going to leave you wanting more, and not get in all the details. The Hazards of Mistletoe defiantly left me wanting more but that is just the side effect of reading a novel from Alyssa Rose Ivy.

I am curious to see what happens in the next Hazards novel, and even though it is most likely a different couple, I expect to get a little glimpse of where Savy and Glen are at in their relationship. I am just hoping the next Hazards book is about Jade, that girl needs her own love story.
