Waiting on Wednesday: The Cadet of Tildor

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we cannot wait to get our hands on.
The Cadet of Tildor
I am waiting on:

Title: The Cadet of Tildor
Author: Alex Lidell
Publisher: Dial Books
Publication Date: Janurary 10, 2013

Tamora Pierce meets George R. R. Martin in this smart, political, medieval fantasy-thriller.
There is a new king on the throne of Tildor. Currents of political unrest sweep the country as two warring crime families seek power, angling to exploit the young Crown's inexperience. At the Academy of Tildor, the training ground for elite soldiers, Cadet Renee de Winter struggles to keep up with her male peers. But when her mentor, a notorious commander recalled from active duty to teach at the Academy, is kidnapped to fight in illegal gladiator games, Renee and her best friend Alec find themselves thrust into a world rife with crime, sorting through a maze of political intrigue, and struggling to resolve what they want, what is legal, and what is right.

Why I am waiting: I fell in love with the premise of this book when I did the cover reveal. It sounds like it would be a fun and action packed read. I am looking forward to it so much that I signed up to be part of the Tildor Heralds, the street team for the book. The author, Alex is super friendly and I am proud to be taking part and helping her!

What are you waiting on?
Leave me a link so I can check it out, or let me know in the comments!

I love when you're really excited about a new book and then the author turns out to be awesome in real life.

I agree -- this does ound like an exciting read! It's an unusual one, too -- fantasy seems to be mixing with some Mafia-like crime gangs. GREAT pick!! Straight into the ol' TBR pile!! Thanks for featuring this one!! : )
