MY REVIEW

Hysteria is an enthralling read; where the suspense drove me to turn the page promptly to continue on to find out what happened next in the story. The pace of the story with the desire to learn what really happened to Mallory had me diving into the story and losing all track of time. While there is many details that need to fit into the story to make it complete, it is well written to prevent the story dragging on. I was driven to read Hysteria, because I read Megan Miranda’s debut last year, Fracture, and fell in love. I was hoping to get to experience another superb story, and Hysteria did not disappoint.

Mallory, the main character, is forced to transfer to a boarding school out of state, Monroe, after killing her boyfriend. The events of that night are hazy, but as strange things begin to happen around her new school, Mallory tries to piece the events of that tragic night together. While the main mystery is what happened the night Mallory killed her boyfriend, there is also the mystery of what is happening to her at Monroe. Trying to keep readers engaged in a single storyline is difficult, but Megan Miranda manages to do it with two.

Upon starting Monroe, Mallory is reintroduced to an old friend from her childhood, Reid. Reid is a protective friend who is good to have around, and gives Mallory something else to focus on besides the traumatic events of her past. Reid and Mallory do not have an easy past, but the familiarity helps center Mallory when she needs it most.

Megan Miranda has a way of writing a suspense novel that makes your heart beat a little faster, and you just want to know what is around the corner. It is not real scary story, but I am a little glad I chose to read it in the middle of the day. I know that I will be adding Megan Miranda to must be read list!
