Episode 8:With the life she carefully constructed in Austin now in shambles, Vanora returns home to Houston with the intention of saving her brother from the unseen forces gathering against him. The journey home is perilous, but Armando is at her side, protecting her against all harm. Yet, the vampire may not be able to protect her from the darkness about to consume everyone she loves, and she can't trust her own heart that yearns for him.Serial Synopsis:In Darkness We Must Abide is the epic saga of one young woman caught in the dangerous world of the creatures of the night.Already living in the shadows due to her albinism, Vanora is just a little girl when her older brother inadvertently unleashes a terrible evil from the family crypt that changes their lives forever. As she grows up in a world where beautiful deadly beings hunt by night, one captures her eye and her heart. Yet, can she trust the mysterious Armando? For there is a powerful entity plotting to claim her when she reaches adulthood in order to fulfill an ancient prophecy, and her enemy has enveloped her in a web of deceit, casting doubt on all she believes to be true. Soon, she will have to fight not only to save those she loves, but also for her very soul.Rhiannon Frater delivers a chilling adventure once again with this multi-part epic serial with a dynamic cast, old school vampires, bloody action, a smoldering forbidden love, and a terrifying villain set against the backdrop of a modern day vampire war.
Rhiannon Frater why must you always play with my emotions? This very short serial packs one heck of a punch as per Rhiannon Frater’s usual style. Every single episode has left me wanting more, but while this one has me wanting more it also has me wary of what may be happening in the future installment. Vanora has suffered so much throughout In Darkness We Must Abide, and I think that her suffering has quadrupled in the last few episodes alone. Tensions are rising, and I think the next episode, The Purge is going to be a heart stopper.
The In Darkness We Must Abide serial is a series of short serials that combine to form a continual story. The best part is that they are so short that they take only an hour sometimes two to read which in my busy schedule is perfect. Rhiannon Frater also manages to pack them with so much they have the feel of a full-length novel but in a smaller package. Episode 8 The Fallen King is a strong example of a powerful story in a short amount of pages. It is also getting harder and harder to talk about each episode without fear of revealing too much and spoiling it. If you have not started this series I highly recommend picking up the complete Season 1 with episodes 1-5 and jump on the bandwagon.
