MY REVIEW
When I heard that Alyssa Rose Ivy had a New Adult contemporary series, I knew that I just had to read it. Everything I have ever read by Alyssa Rose Ivy has been remarkable, and her new series does not disappoint one bit. Molly loses her fiancé, and discovers that law school was never for her, so she decides to go back home to Clayton Falls. The problem is that she has just as much painful history in Clayton Falls as she does in Boston, including Ben, her high school sweetheart.
Molly is a very broken character after suffering from grief and guilt over the loss of her fiancé. As she re-inserts herself in Clayton Falls, she also has to deal with the guilt left behind, when she left five years ago. Ben has been holding hope that Molly would walk back into his life, and even though she had hurt him, he cannot let this chance pass him by again. Fighting through their history, and their feelings, Ben and Molly do not take long to find themselves back where they left off.
I really like the way that Ben treats Molly for the most part, his possessive nature is a bit much at times. Molly and Ben together is that relationship everyone really wants, the comfort and the love is visible right from the beginning. There is so much sadness in this book, but it is mixed with the happy and sweet moments that help balance it out. Molly really comes back to herself throughout the story, and starts to heal and move on from the tragedy and guilt that has plagued her life.
This the type of book that you cannot help but root for the couple, and want to see them get that happily ever after. I am slowly becoming a huge fan of the New Adult genre, and Derailed has to be my new favorite. Alyssa Rose Ivy is an amazing author, and if you have not picked up any of her books, Derailed is an excellent choice. I cannot wait to get another glimpse at Clayton Falls in the second book, Veer.
