ABOUT THE BOOK
Author: M.R. Merrick
Series: The Protector #3
Publication Date: December 8, 2012
Length: 370 Pages
After uniting the shifters and calling in reinforcements, Chase has to face his toughest challenge yet: learning to control his emotions. But as tensions rise and his powers grow, controlling his emotions becomes the least of his problems.
Terrorized by a multi-shifter who is hell-bent on turning him, Chase questions just how far he’s willing to go to stop his father. Meanwhile, Tiki’s virtuous nature has placed him in the middle of Vincent’s past, leaving Chase to oppose a senate of vampires and defend a demon he hates.
Trying to balance his friends, his enemies, and his inner demons, Chase is left searching for answers about the Mark, his destiny, and where he can find the next soul piece. Stopping Riley is his top priority, but as more obstacles arise, he finds himself doubting all the decisions he’s made - especially regarding Rayna.
One thing is for certain: Chase has finally realized that he doesn’t know anything. The light doesn’t always quell the darkness, the monsters don’t always stay in the shadows, and the past doesn’t always stay in the past - sometimes, the demons inside are the hardest to fight.

MY REVIEW
* Spoilers will be avoided but this Review may contain spoilers from previous novels*
Exiled had me craving another taste, Shift fed my fascination, but Release has made me a full-blown addict for The Protector series! Release left me not only craving more, but also needing more. I keep telling myself, I can quit anytime I want to, but not after Release. The Protector Series has me firmly in its talons, and it is probably going to tear me to shreds before I am finished. I read numerous amounts of books, and lately some of them have started to blend together. Release is not one of those books, this series and these books really stand out on their own. The characters really work their way into your heart, and you cannot help but just want them to succeed. This series has a unique feel to them that I cannot even begin to describe. They are just marvelous! Each one delivers and takes it to the next level. The Protector series is one of my favorite new series!
Chase in this book is more in control than the previous two books, but his emotions still play with his powers. His biggest challenge is his quick temper, and while it still causes him to act first and think later, he seems to have a better head on his shoulders. Chase is not the only one who goes through some changes in this book. Many of the characters really step into their roles, and there are plenty of new and unexpected developments.
As the big battle is looming right on the horizon, Release starts to take a more somber and grittier turn then previous installments. I know that the events in Release will changed the course for the rest of the story, and I look forward to seeing where the journey takes Chase and his friends. Each book in this series pulls at the heartstrings just a little more each time, so in addition to being impatiently waiting for the next book, I am also apprehensive for the characters I have grown to love.

I have book one and still need to read it!
Me too Kimbacaffeinate! I working on it. I like most every mythological creature there is. I guess my favorite is vampires though. I'm not sure really why. I guess because they were once human and more easily relate-able to.
