Waiting on Wednesday: Covet by Tracey Garvis Graves

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we cannot wait to get our hands on.
I am waiting on:

CovetTitle: Covet
Author: Tracey Garvis Graves
Publisher: Dutton
Publication Date: SPRING 2013

What if the life you wanted, and the woman you fell in love with, belonged to someone else?
Chris and Claire Canton’s marriage is on life support. Downsized during the recession, Chris copes by retreating to a dark place where no one can reach him, not even Claire.
Daniel Rush had it all, until a tragic accident took away everything he cherished. A chance meeting with Claire sets in motion a chain of events that will leave three people questioning their choices and dealing with the aftermath of their decisions.

Why am I waiting?
Let me lay it out for you
  • 1. On The Island (Another book by Tracey) is beyond AMAZING!
  • (If you do not know what that is please check out this post)
  • 2. Tracey Garvis Graves is just a fantastic person as well as a writer.
  • 3. This sounds like it is going to make cry (not just cry but possibly going all the way to ugly cry while cradling the book) , probably laugh, and most of all just be beautifully complicated.
Spring 2013 is going to a very very long wait, but I have a feeling Covet is going to be worth it.

Is there a book you are dying to read?
Leave me a link, so I can check it out!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Title: On the Island
Author: Tracey Garvis Graves
Publisher: Plume (Penguin)
Publication Date: July 17, 2012

When thirty-year-old English teacher Anna Emerson is offered a job tutoring T.J. Callahan at his family's summer rental in the Maldives, she accepts without hesitation; a working vacation on a tropical island trumps the library any day.
T.J. Callahan has no desire to leave town, not that anyone asked him. He's almost seventeen and if having cancer wasn't bad enough, now he has to spend his first summer in remission with his family - and a stack of overdue assignments - instead of his friends.
Anna and T.J. are en route to join T.J.'s family in the Maldives when the pilot of their seaplane suffers a fatal heart attack and crash-lands in the Indian Ocean. Adrift in shark-infested waters, their life jackets keep them afloat until they make it to the shore of an uninhabited island. Now Anna and T.J. just want to survive and they must work together to obtain water, food, fire, and shelter. Their basic needs might be met but as the days turn to weeks, and then months, the castaways encounter plenty of other obstacles, including violent tropical storms, the many dangers lurking in the sea, and the possibility that T.J.'s cancer could return. As T.J. celebrates yet another birthday on the island, Anna begins to wonder if the biggest challenge of all might be living with a boy who is gradually becoming a man.

When I first read this book, I knew it was one of those books that stick with you. The kind of book you recommend to everyone you meet, and I could not be happier that it is skyrocketing in popularity. I am excited to see it out in stores everywhere. Tracey deserves every bit of success that On The Island has brought her. If you haven't read On The Island yet, please do yourself a favorite pick up a copy!!
Feel free to read my review!

This time around, I have the pleasure of giving everyone a sneak peak at On The Island with an Excerpt!!

Book Trailer: Forsaken by Lisa M. Stasse

The author, Lisa M. Stasse shared this trailer with me, and I decided to share it with my readers.
What is Forsaken?

The Forsaken (The Forsaken, #1)
Title: Forsaken
Author: Lisa M. Stasse
Series: The Forsaken #1
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
Publication Date: July 10, 2012

A thought-provoking and exciting start to a riveting new dystopian trilogy.
As an obedient orphan of the U.N.A. (the super-country that was once Mexico, the U.S., and Canada), Alenna learned at an early age to blend in and be quiet—having your parents taken by the police will do that to a girl. But Alenna can’t help but stand out when she fails a test that all sixteen-year-olds have to take: The test says she has a high capacity for brutal violence, and so she is sent to The Wheel, an island where all would-be criminals end up.
The life expectancy of prisoners on The Wheel is just two years, but with dirty, violent, and chaotic conditions, the time seems a lot longer as Alenna is forced to deal with civil wars for land ownership and machines that snatch kids out of their makeshift homes. Desperate, she and the other prisoners concoct a potentially fatal plan to flee the island. Survival may seem impossible, but Alenna is determined to achieve it anyway.

Technical Difficulties

Earlier today, my faithful laptop was decimated by my lovely little girls.
By that overly dramatic statement, I mean that my laptop screen is a bunch of pretty spidery cracks.
I happen to do 99.9% of my blogging from my laptop.
While I do have what is probably consider an ancient desktop(it is 4 years old), but it is slow and makes me sad to use it.
This is where this message is being brought to you right now.
To try to take the time to lock myself away, and use the desktop is going to harder to do. This goes especially during the day.
I should still post with the same frequency. The biggest delays will be responding to email, and comments in any sort of a timely fashion.

I really hope to be able to replace the laptop screen myself, since the laptop is less than two years old.
Until then please do not be offended if I do not respond to questions, emails and comments right away, it is going to be a bit difficult to do in a timely fashion for the next however many weeks before my beautiful laptop comes back to me.

Thank you for understanding!

As they begin uncovering clues, it becomes apparent that the life of white magic they both grew up loving is not what the majority practices, and their lives are in danger.

Triss realizes that in order to find the answers she needs, she must learn the ways of her ancestors and become the hunter, not the hunted before it’s too late, and she becomes part of the lonely souls.
