Series: Clayton Falls #2
Publication Date: November 29, 2012

Only when you let go can you learn to live.
Between the death of her mother and pushing through law school without her best friend, it's been a tough year for Becca. Needing a break from Boston, she moves to a tiny coastal North Carolina town for a relaxing summer. After bumping heads repeatedly with a local cop, she realizes her summer will be anything but quiet.
Three years after a career ending injury ruins his chance to play Major League Baseball, Gavin has a distrust of northerners and lately girls in general. He wants nothing to do with a girl who is only in town for the summer.
When the two give in to their impossible attraction, they realize that they may just have found the key to freeing themselves from the ghosts of their pasts.

MY REVIEW

Veer is a delightful addition to the Clayton Falls series by Alyssa Rose Ivy. There are many familiar faces from Derailed, but with a new love story to discover. Veer is Becca and Gain’s story. Becca comes to visit Molly and work in Clayton Falls for the summer. What she does not expect is Gavin. Gavin on the other hand does not want to get involved with or having feelings for someone who is only going to leave at the end of the summer.

Veer is told from both Becca and Gavin’s points of view. This gives insight into their true feeling, before maybe even they realize it. The duel points of view help the most with Gavin who tends to be a jerk in the beginning. His point-of-view helps by showing his reasoning and motivation behind his actions. Even with his slightly possessive nature and his quick temper, Gavin makes a great love interest for Becca. Becca has severe trust issues stemming from her past. Having someone who likes to protect people, and make them feel safe, like Gavin, is what Becca really needs in a potential romantic interest.

Becca has a very lonely and sad atmosphere surrounding her. She is not quite sure how to handle everything completely on her own. This is one of the reason I loved her living in Clayton Falls, because everyone knows everyone. It is also, why I liked seeing Gavin take care of her. Becca really comes out of her shell and lets go of some of the fears that have been holding her back in her life.

Alyssa Rose Ivy has quickly become one of my favorite Authors. I have loved every book and series she has ever released. Veer is no exception and I find that I cannot wait for the next book in the Clayton Falls series. The third book, Wrecked, is going to be Jake’s story, and I am excited to see what Jake’s story has in store for readers. I feel I should mention that even though Veer is part of a series, it can also be read as a standalone, but I also highly recommend the first book, Derailed.
