My Review of Nightshade (Nightshade #1)

My Review

Wolfsbane is the second book in the Nightshade series by Andrea Cremer, and it picks up right about where Nightshade ended. Calla and Shay decided to align with the Searchers, who are the sworn enemies of the Keepers and Guardians. This introduces a few new characters that are part of the Searchers. I have to say I really like the dynamic of the Searchers I loved them almost instantly. Calla is not sure if she can trust the Searchers, but she wants the chance to go back and save her pack. She knows it is not going to be easy, considering her friends and family maybe the ones she has to fight.

In Wolfsbane, Calla is also fighting her feelings for Shay, and the feelings she still has lingering for Ren. While she wants to be with Shay, she feels guilty for what could be happening to Ren. With Calla’s betray of the Keepers, there is a chance that her pack may be suffering some of her consequences. I think Calla stands out even more in the novel than she did in the first book. I also think she feel a bit more human, and more relatable in the book.

I absolutely loved the first book, Nightshade, but I have to say I may like Wolfsbane better. There are more characters that I loved and much more conflict both internally, and externally. One reason I loved Wolfsbane so much was unique world Andrea Cremer has created. I like the expansion on the world, and the history of that world. I know there is going to be much more to learn, and I am excited to see. There were so many things discovered in this book, it took me a few days to process it all.

I love that this book is divided into three parts, each with a reference from Dante’s Inferno. There are even a few places in the book, that reference Dante’s Inferno, which ties it all together. Wolfsbane is just another amazing book by Andrea Cremer. I cannot wait until January to read the third and final book in the Nightshade series, Bloodrose. This comes especially because of the last chapter, and the sort of cliffhanger it leaves it. I do not like giving away spoilers in my reviews, so that is where I leave it. If you loved Nightshade, I know you will love Wolfsbane.

I am trying the new layout for my reviews, let me know if you like it better than the old one.
