The Riverton family had been enjoying a simple summer vacation when, through a fluke of nature, they found themselves in a strange new land. The Riverton brothers quickly realize that in this world, they have gained unusual powers. Powers that their parents fear will attract the attention of Azazel himself - the merciless wizard who brutally controls this world. The two brothers soon learn that an ancient prophecy has finally been initiated by their arrival in Trimoria. As the heirs of this prophecy, they are destined to lead the armies of men, dwarves, elves, and even a misfit ogre against the prophesied demon horde. Only one thing stands in their way. The evil wizard who has learned of their presence, and has sent assassins to wipe them from existence.
MY REVIEW
Heirs of Prophecy by Michael A. Rothman is an imaginative
beginning to what I suspect will be a great series. The Riverton family goes on
vacation to Arizona, only to find themselves in a new land called Trimoria. Trimoria
is a land under the control of the dark wizard, and resembles the Dark Ages.
There is no technology or indoor plumbing. The young boys, Aaron and Ryan
Riverton soon realize they gained abilities in Trimoria that they did not have
before. This makes them a threat for the ruling king and wizard Azazel.
This book starts with many details about the new world, and
a lot of world building. The world building ties into the actions of the main
characters later in the book. I liked the amazing world that Michael Rothman
created and I can only imagine that the world building is going to be even
better in the second book, Tools of Prophecy. Sometimes in Fantasy, the world
created can be too over the top, or underdeveloped, but that is not the
case in the Prophecy Series.
Ryan and Aaron are very young when they discover they are
part of a prophecy and meant to lead the battle against the demon hordes in the
distant future. Even though the boys are young they accept the responsibility and
they start training right away. As the action in the book builds, and the story
starts to end it left me wanting more. I was so wrapped up in the story of
Heirs of Prophecy that when it ended, I immediately started Tools of Prophecy,
because I was not ready to leave Trimoria behind just yet.

ABOUT TOOLS OF PROPHECY
Title: Tools of Prophecy
Author: Michael A. Rothman
Series: The Prophecies #2
Publisher: M & S Publishing
Publication Date: August 1, 2012
Number of Pages: 380 Pages
The TOOLS OF PROPHECY is the second volume in an epic saga which describes a prophecy that has placed the Riverton brothers in the lead roles of a struggle to save their world from being overrun by unspeakable horrors. This destiny requires that they face off with the demons that nearly destroyed their world over five centuries ago.In the first book, the population of wizards had been practically eradicated by the former tyrant. The Rivertons are now charged with creating an Academy of Magic, recruiting qualified students, and furthering their own training with secrets that have long been held by the reclusive elves.Despite their youth, a mysterious spirit has engaged them in an epic struggle to gain mastery of their newfound skills, help raise and train two armies, and stay alive long enough for their final showdown with destiny. The only things that stand in their way are the assassins hired to destroy them and the Demon Lord’s minion who holds a personal grudge and intends to witness the young boys’ deaths.
MY REVIEW
Tools of Prophecy by Michael Rothman is an exciting and
addicting sequel in The Prophecy Series. Tools of Prophecy takes place two
years after the Rivertons entered Trimoria. Ryan now 16 and Aaron 15 have been
training and preparing for the future battle. They know they cannot do it
alone, and the Riverton family with the help of the Lancasters begin to find
and recruit Trimoria citizens that have magical abilities. This is done in
hopes of forming a powerful wizard army for the battle of the prophecy.
While there may have been a hint of romance in the first
book, now that the boys are a bit older there has been a bit of an increase in
the romance. This is to be expected now that both the boys have been betrothed
and expected to marry when the girls reach the proper age. When the change in
leadership to the country, it allows the Rivertons to open The Riverton Academy
of Magic to train any new citizens found to have magical abilities.
This book is also about the alliances formed between the
humans, the dwarves, and the elves to prepare for the great battle with the
demons. A more in-depth look is taken into the world of the other races, which
were not greatly explored in the first book. In addition, while the Riverton
boys try to increase their training, they do not realize the danger that
surrounds them. There is a new enemy with an old grudge, who wants to make sure
that the Riverton boys do not survive long enough to carry out the prophecy.
I really like the growth the characters have taken in the
second book, and cannot wait for the third book in the series to be released. I
do not always enjoy fantasy novels, but I really love the creative and interesting
fantasy that Michael Rothman has created.

I really enjoy books about magic. This series sounds fun. I notice the boys and girls are getting older in book two and the romance picks up a bit. Thanks for the attention to that. When I read a series, I like to follow the characters and see how they deal with maturing.
Would love these books to grace my bookshelf!!
