Piracy SUCKS! and Giveaway

Image thanks to Larissa's Bookish Life

I have been reading posts through the day, after hearing about both Cydni Tefft, author of Between, and Angeline Kace, author of Descended by Blood, suffering from the evil doings of the dastardly book pirates. While that sounds like a great adventure novel, it is not anywhere close. These pirates are hurting authors by stealing their works. To top that off one of my fellow book bloggers, Jaime from Two Chicks On Books was also affected by these pirates. These evil pirates sold her reviews and used them to recommend the pirated copies of Cyndi's book. This is just despicable and disturbing to me as a fellow book blogger. I am upset about the circumstances, because both Cyndi and Angeline are wonderful, awesome people and I know this is frustrating for both of them.

The saddest part about this is both books cost $ 0.99!!! I cannot even buy something to drink at my local gas station for that cheap. If you cannot afford .99, then you cannot afford to have the internet connection you are using to steal the book.

This is not the first time piracy has been brought up and I know it will not be the last. As a person who has a passion for reading, and the effort it takes to write a novel. These novels sometimes take YEARS to write, and the joy of that accomplishment can be taken away in a few minutes. I believe it is my duty as a book blogger, and someone who admires both Cyndi and Angeline to spread to the word on Piracy. Just a little while back author Jennifer Armentrout posted about her book Half-Blood being pirated BEFORE it was even officially released. These pirates used an E-ARC to pirate her work. That means her publisher trusted them enough to send them an E-ARC. This is damaging to the publisher, agent, and author, but it  is also damaging to all the good reviewers out there. If it continues to happen, publishers will stop send out advanced copies to reviewers like book bloggers.

Other stories on piracy can be found here:

I was so angry about these event today that I have decided to host a huge giveaway against piracy. I am giving away FIVE Kindle editions of Between by Cyndi Tefft and FIVE Kindle editions of Descended by Blood by Angeline Kace. That means there are TEN winners!!
I know not everyone has a kindle, but with there are Kindle Apps for a lot of devices, and it is easy for me to gift a copy to the winners.
GIVEAWAY ENDS 12:01 AM EST on October 31st

Is it wrong that I would be happy with either book? If I really have to choose though I would say Descended by Blood. Why, I don't know as much about this book as I do Cyndi Tefft's and so I'm curious about it.

Truth, both are on my to be purchased list, I've just not had the means to do so at the moment. It really saddens and sickens me that someone is pirating these two novels. Sigh

This is extremely sad. I don't even know what to say really, except that I'm disappointed at those who are pirating these wonderful novels. It is also a shame that book bloggers are getting a beating as well. I can't believe this one person would resort to using an eARC to pirate a novel. This just gives all us book bloggers a bad name. Seriously, I'll be really pissed off if publishers stop sending out ARCs because of this. I hope these pirates learn their lesson.

Good luck my dears!

Descended by blood is the book I'd like. Piracy is a pitiful thing, It's horrible. I've read Between by Cyndi Tefft and it was fantastic, thinking someone could pirate is, It's just....terrible. I can only imagine how upset Ms. Tefft must be over this. Pirates are thief's and should be treated as so. I am an aspiring writer, as well and cannot imagine how upsetting this would be. I hope theses pirates get what is coming to them.

Well I'd say I chose Between by Cyndi Tefft. I already own Descended by Blood by Angeline Kace. Pirating the Arthur's is just sad. There are so many pirates out there who don't give a crap about themselves or anyone else. *shakes head* But I know karma will come back to them 3 fold one day whether they believe in it or not.

I'd like Descended by Blood - it's been on my TBR for awhile now! Also this is a great idea. Piracy does suck and this giveaway is a good way to stand up to that. Thanks for this =)

I would like Between because I've already read DBB :o) Thanks for the giveaway. It's been such a mess lately with all this piracy stuff!!

I'd like to win Descended by Blood by Angeline Kace. As far as Piracy, there should be legal action taken against these people.

I would like to have Descended by Blood. I have read reviews on it and I can not wait to actually read it. So THX for the chance. And Piracy does Suck and when they do stupid stuff like that they are going to ruin it for us book bloggers that do things the honest way

I can't believe people would steal others work like that, especially knowing how much work and how much of themselves the authors put into it. I'm gald you've written about this and are bringing awareness to this issue.

I would be happy with either Descended by Blood or Between they both sound amazing.

Thanks, again for raising awareness and for hosting the giveaway.

I can't tell you how sad this makes me, and that there are people out there who do this. The author isn't getting anything out of it for all of their hard work, and neither is the publisher (if the book was not self-published). A lot of people worked really hard to make that book happen, and for someone to take the book and do that... it's awful, and like a slap to the face.
But, but to the question--I would really love to win Angeline Kace's Descended by Blood. I've been dying to read it forever now! It sounds amazing, and I LOVE the cover! :) Thanks so much for this giveaway chance, and good luck to everyone who is entering! :)

I would like Descended By Blood. I couldn't really say why it just sounds like my type of story : ) Pirating sucks! I posted the last time when Half-Blood was pirated and I bought her book immediately. I hope that the people are caught and the one with the eARC for Half-Blood is never trusted by publishers again!

This is an awesome giveaway to help bring awareness to pirating. Pirating sucks and it's sickening that people do this. I already purchased both of these books, so I am just here to rant on how scummy people are that think it is ok to illegally post or download. I think it is great that you are doing this giveaway.

I just wanted to thank everyone who has stopped by and expressed their outrage. Anyone who has also spread the word against Piracy, YOU ARE AWESOME!!!

I've been following Cyndi Tefft, I'd love to read her story.

I don't really understand the need to pirate a book. I know that in some parts of the world, books aren't easily accessible, but, I'd think it would be more productive to try to get books to those who can't rather than stealing someone else's hard work.

I am totally against piracy. That is stealing and I don't see why anyone would do that. It's ridiculous that someone would steal someone else's hard work. Especially on ereaders that's kind of sad. Most books are like a couple dollars and yet people steal them. That's just low. Anyway thank you so much for this giveaway.

It's not worth pirating anything, movies or books!

This is a great idea. Piracy does suck and I'm so sad for Cyndi and Angeline. Hopefully this will give them lots of publicity and everyone will be scampering to buy their books. I'm getting a Kindle for Christmas and will be adding these two ladies to my reading list.

I'd love to win either book :)
